Professionals
All local authorities are required to provide a Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS).
SENDIASS is required, by law, to offer impartial, confidential information, advice, and support to children and Young People (0 – 25yrs) and their parents and carers about matters related to Special Educational Needs and disability (SEND)
We do this by providing a free, impartial and confidential service through our website and online resources.
We also offer free information and advice to professionals. We can advise on:
- SEND law, legislation and policies
- Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans
- Mediation and SEND tribunal appeals
- Resolving disagreements and complaints procedures
- Preparing for adulthood
- Signposting to other services
This will be general factual advice NOT relating to any individual child or young person.
If you wish to refer a family to our service, you MUST seek the permission of the young person and / or their parent or carer. We will not engage in conversations about individuals without their consent or knowledge.
To make a referral, after seeking consent, you can call us with the details. Alternatively, you can pass on our details to the young person or parents and carers and ask them to give us a call.
